Mr & Ms Olympus 2000 Jazz Thomas and Joni Perrie
|
|
Four men and three women competed in the Mr. and Ms
Olympus Leather 2000 Contest at the Le Petit Theatre in New Orleans on
Saturday night, February 26. Approximately 150 people saw Joni Perrie
from Atlanta, GA win the Ms sash while Jazz Thomas from Minneapolis captured
the Mr. title. Each contestant presented an erotic fantasy that depicted
at least one fetish. Although he did not win, the fantasy acted out by
Mr. Florida Olympus Leather 2000 Allen Grim was unique and will be remembered
for a long time. Using four trays of paint each representing colors of
the Leather Pride Flag and a flogger, he whipped the colors on to the
back of a submissive and pressed an art canvas against the man's back
after each color was applied, with the finished product a work of art.
The piece was auctioned off the next day with $200 going to San Francisco's
AIDS Emergency Fund. This one will send ripples across the country.
Each contestant auctioned off baskets while the judges scores were being tallied. When the dollars were counted, about $1,900 was collected for the titleholders' travel fund. After this Cori Ander and Erick Lundgren gave stepping down speeches. Cori's was short and sweet. Erick's left not one dry eye in the house as he tributed his lover, Glenn Candies, who passed on a few months ago and talked about the effort in communications between old and new Leather. You would have had to have heard it to believe it. Over the years so many have tried to word what Erick had to say, but no one has related it as effectively as he did. The judging panel included Mr. Olympus Leather 1999 Erick Lundgren, Ms Olympus Leather 1999 Cori Ander, International Ms Leather 1999 Pam Meyer, Dallas Eagle owner Mark Frazier, Knights d' Orleans president Mina Hernandez, International Mr. Leather Den Mommy Joanne Gaddy and president of Drummer Contests International, Inc. Mike Zuhl. Returning as tally master was International Master 1994 John Birch. Scheduled judge Mr. International Rubber 1999 Thomas Smith was unable to attend due to a personal emergency The emcee team of Don Thompson and Kay Hallanger were back together and at their best. Kay was a riot in hosting the spoof International Mr. Saliva 2000 Contest which saw five contestants competing to not take the most uncoveted title in titledom. John Prather of Chicago, lover of Dean Ogren who was named the Midwest Regional Award winner only moments before was the chagrined winner. The sash was made of Mardi Gras beads, the tackiest plastic fish that was within the law to sell and an even more desperate tiara. Once again, Plant was first runner up and Joanne Gaddy was second runner-up. Word has it that the judges did not award her the title out of mercy because it might have cost her her Mensa membership. Joni went on to win the International Ms Leather 2001 title in Omaha, NE. |
